Australia vs New Zealand LIVE Updates and Comments

Decided to have a bit of fun today and hopefully post some mildly entertaining and perhaps even amusing (only if we’re lucky) comments on tonight’s highly unanticipated test match. Enjoy!

9.53 pm

Nick Bonner -

Ok followers, Brodie has a tinder match. A girl from high school. Never spoke to her. But now there’s a match. What should he do?

9.09 pm

Brick -

There is some seriously amazing ping pong going on under adverse conditions (mainly a shitty ball, poor lighting and a serious amount of alcohol consumed). We decided that every point you lose you should have to drink….. This was a horrible idea as for some stupid reason I played Brodie and Tom back to back and thought it would be funny to make both games go into the breakers… Brodie threw in the towel at 13-12 in my favour and Tom managed to come back and win 14-13 after I tanked 3 serves in a row to let him get back from 10-7 down….. Fucking idiot.

5.35 pm

TC -

Woah. Jesus. So we continue. After watching Bay locals go nutbags at each other last night (while we stole their drinks) and then chinkling till the early hours of the morning, we woke up and were cured by the soothing waves of one mile beach. Well, everyone except Minnett, who still hasn’t made it to the pub.

It’s been a chilled arvo, I cleaned Matt up in pool and the syndicate is going strong. There’s a long night ahead of us,  so stay tuned!

1.09 pm

Brick -

Aaaaaaaaand Minnett has opened the spew account for the weekend. He tried to rally to soon and it all came back to haunt him. He managed to dig a spew hole in the sand and looking on from the touch footy field he appeared to be performing the downard facing dog into his hole

12.15 pm

Brick -

So we’ve hit the beach, a saturday morning tradition in an attempt to recover from friday night. Minnett who normally is the driving force in getting everyone to the beach has opted for passing out in his bed wearing only his towel from his 7:30 shower, not the prettiest sight ive ever seen But thanks to Dunny and his sharing of certain pics not the worst either.

12.02 pm

Brick -

Well fuck me…… Nirav and i arrived at 11:38 only too learn that for some reason known to no one that the venue in which our group was attending had an 11:30 lockout……… what the actual fuck who locks out at 11:30 what kind of place is this. thus began the longest hour and 14 minute wait of our lives.the boys wouldnt leave until brodie scored which based on his level of innebreation his chances of booting seemed much better than actually being able to communicate with a chick let alone pulling her. TC did a few perimeter checks to find a place for us to sneak in but we decided it was probably a bad idea and the fences were really high so we opted for wating. As we waited we were entertained by a punch on between the locals and a group of tourists, who between the 4 of them thought it would be a smart idea to take on the 20 locals. So once they got suitably smacked about and the bouncers dispersed the crowd the boys came out and we ventured back to the pcyc. After a spirited game of cricket in which minnett thought he’d be a smart prick and lose the ball we made the fatal mistake of deciding to play drinking games. We started with chinkle of death, during which pricey took it upon himself to lose as quickly as possible, this mammoth losing streak was going fine until nirav sat down and decided it was his turn to become the next loser. For those who dont know chinkle, the game is basically tapping your glass in sequence around the table while skipping and reversing the direction with different number of taps in the hopes of fucking the person up next to you so they lose and have to drink. at some point during the game i decided that it would be more interesting if i put a pot on my head and bash that with a knife for my “buzzer” which probably explains the splitting headache i am now suffering from…. once chinkle had died off the group thought it would be fun to play what i can only describe as the most confusing drinking game ive ever seen in my life called hands of death. I swear to christ a collective of the smartest minds in the world working together 24/7 would be unable to decypher how that game worked. I cant really be sure i was actually playing but everyone seemed pretty confident that i was losing alot which caused me to smash a few cans in quick succession. 4:30am rolled around at which point i decided that bed was the only smart option left available to me so i called it and that about covers the punish that was last night.

11.30 pm

TC -

Fuck. So we got raped on Blackjack. Brodie botched some Tinder matches (step up Pricey!) and we’re getting fucked on the horses.

On the other hand, Manly lost and remain dead last.

It’s only upwards from here, as the Brick and Nirav are within arms reach.

7.59 pm

Brodie Elliott -

The PCYC is booming as ever and the tinder matches are flying, boy oh boy what more can I say than…. The Bay. After a quailty happy saccing sesh and some cheeky table tennis the group has now made there way to the RSL. The good news is my tinder match has followed suit and has made the excuse of seeing some crummy singer to meet me there. But first there is blackjack to be exploited, after my dinner I’ll be heading down to win my money to sweep her off her feet. I can’t see how I can lose, I’m 21 and I’m playing blackjack!!

We’ve kicked off at the Port Stephens Go Kart track where I’ve pulled off the major feat of recording the 16th fastest lap of all time.

Minnett set the early pace, leading the first session with a best lap of 27.433.

In the second session Col and TC turned it on, duelling for the majority of the race. While TC wasn’t able to edge passed Col on track, he was the quickest, recording a time of 26.978 on the last lap, to win the day.

TC was then told his time was .004 seconds off being on the leaderboard of the fastest 15 laps ever.

Photo of the times to be posted shortly.

We have set down! Brodez is in the bay and it would be an understatement to atmosphere and weather is beautiful. This town reeks of opportunities and is just begging to be exploited by the groups’ ability to win cash from video blackjack. #table

It would appear I am somewhat early and therefore I have made my way down to Hogsbreathe for lunch, a beer and some cheeku tinder swipes to pass the time.

Here we come boys

4.26 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Well well we’re back for an action packed weekend. Brodie checking in from Newcastle University on campus accommodation  for the night and in reaching point of THE BAY which I will be travelling to for an expected arrival time of 1:30pm tomorrow. From my calculations I am currently 56kms from The Bay and hence this correlates to the radius of 60km I have set on my Tinder search finding preferences. This will give me some time to scout some matches and build a quality Bay Sure Thing roster.
The drive today was filled with joy, the main lesson I learned was that THE BIG SHOW song can be played 78 times in the car from Sydney Uni to Newcastle Uni.
See tomorrow guys, TGB signing off as he has a free roll poker tournament he plans on winning in Toronto tonight.

9.44 am

TC -

9.14 pm

Jake Carden -

WORLD CHAMPIONS!!! But most importantly we got the bonus point, YOU BLOODY RIPPER!!

now It’s time for the rowing

9.05 pm

TC -

Southee bringing out some Yorkers now. Few dots. Just 100 more of them NZ. Still in it.

Oh but it’s been dropped short and Smith hits a 4 to win it.

9.01 pm

Jake Carden -

This game should finish just in time for the rowing

9.00 pm

Jake Carden -

This New Zealand team had trained well so there winners in my eyes

8.59 pm

TC -

And oh my god. Wato has come out. What a ludicrous decision not to send out the big show. Two reverse sweep 6s were on the cards.

8.57 pm

TC -

And the kiwi wanker bowls a wide that’s not what we’re after here.

Oh and the same wanker has now bowled Clarke! Chopped on and he gets to depart his final ODI on his own. Standing ovation from the 90,000 people present at the MCG. What a moment. Then fox cuts to an ad. F#cksake.

8.57 pm

Brodie Elliott -

NOO!!! Clarkey….

Send out the Big Show!!!

8.55 pm

TC -

Just 10 to win. 2 sixes for Clarkey surely. What would big show do?

8.54 pm

TC -

Clarkey is now taking Southee apart. He has figures of 0/63 off 7. He’s bowled well though, looked good in the nets.

8.52 pm

Jake Carden -

What’s the Equasion for the bonus Point, must be on track

7 Points!

8.51 pm

Jake Carden -

im surprised he didn’t want and try and get in front of De Kock at South Africa, there the same aren’t they?

8.48 pm

TC -

Yes a huge revelation this. Apparently his mum’s pigeon’s vet’s wife is Zimbabwean.

8.44 pm

Jake Carden -

BREAKING NEWS:Luke Ronchi set to sign a new 4 Year deal with Zimbabwe cricket, he hopes to take them to World Cup glory in 2019

8.43 pm

TC -

Yes Anderson has his worth, but in the top 11 for the WC? Nope

8.42 pm

TC -

Smithy is now looking to turn it up! Goes for a big slog. I like it! Get the big show in!

8.37 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Sorry I’m joining the party late fellas, it seems I’ve missed some vintage Clarkey.

Based on this game I will admit Corey Anderson has probably been kicked out of my 2015 World Cup XI

8.28 pm

TC -

Clarkey is well in now, he puts Vettori in the stands. Soooiiiya

8.23 pm

Jake Carden -

Corey Anderson has had a cracker of a game, out for a second ball duck now being spanked around the MCG by Clarke

8.20 pm

TC -

Corey Anderson will be looking to build off his 2nd ball duck earlier.

8.19 pm

TC -

Clarke says seeeeya Henry and lifts him over mid on for a classy 4.

8.15 pm

TC -

Daniel Vettori is actually wearing Google glass and hes been googling how to get Steve Smith out in between balls.

8.13 pm

TC -

100 up for Australia and the typical crowd shots are shown, a few really hammered guys there doing an Indian type dance. Good stuff.

8.05 pm

Jake Carden -

A shot of absolute class from the Skipper, lifting that over the Australian… Oh sorry Kiwi (Apparently) Keeper for four!

2/95 off 19

8.02 pm

Jake Carden -

Why can’t Mark Nicholas join the England Cricket team back in England? He’s Commentating is just as bad as Stuart Broads Batting

2/86

18.1

8.00 pm

TC -

Mark Nicholas is crapping on about the size of bats. Gee sometimes he sounds like an idiot. And by sometimes I mean all the time.

7.56 pm

TC -

News from the dressing room that the Big Show will go out to bat blindfolded for a bit of a laugh if he gets a bat. What a crowd pleaser what a legend of the game.

2/76 off 17

7.33 pm

Jake Carden -

BANG! Warner is out caught in the deep for 45, the Kiwis will be thinking they’re still in this, but really we have the Big Show is in at number 6

7.32 pm

Jake Carden -

All of a sudden The people of New Zealand hate Cricket again, we will smash use in the Rugby World Cup Bro

1/63 12.1

185 the target

7.22 pm

TC -

Warner and Smith aren’t mucking around here. Chances of seeing the Big Show tonight are rapidly decreasing.

1/56 off 9.5

7.12 pm

Jake Carden -

1/41 off 7 overs. It’s good that Warner and Smith are getting on with it because I really want to watch the Sydney International of Rowing which starts at 10

7.07 pm

Jake Carden -

Cracking shot from Steve Smith, but if this was the Big show that would of gone over mid Off for Six

7.03 pm

TC -

What a privilege it is to have Jake’s insight for the remainder of this game.

Warner has carved out a few fours here, including two cracking cover drives. Got away with a couple as well, dropped at slip but it went for 4.

1/32

7.01 pm

Jake Carden -

I only see this game going two ways. Australia might win or they Might loose!

6.58 pm

TC -

Welcome to the commentary team Jake and yes that’s a very good point. Winning with a bonus point key here for Kiwi embarrassment.

6.55 pm

Jake Carden -

I personally don’t know why Steve Smith is in at number 3, the only way Australia is going to win with a bonus point is if THE BIG SHOW comes in

6.49 pm

TC -

And Boult removes Finch!! Well we could see that coming a mile off. Nice swing from Boult, Finch gets tangled up and bunts it back for a caught and bowled. We’re one step closer to seeing the Big Show.

6.46 pm

TC -

Southee making Finch look rubbish here. Boult on now as Australia try to chase this horribly small total of 184.

11.45 am

Brodie Elliott -

As I try to stomach the fatty smells of Hungry Jacks prior to my shift with what I would describe as a moderate hang over, only two words keep replaying through my mind ‘De Beer.’ He’s the key for Breakers today and the X Factor they need to snatch the win from Harbord Bowling Club. With a cloudy day foretasted and a maximum of 23 Degrees Celsius, I feel that everything appears in Harbord’s favor. However, I just have this feeling that Breakers might find a way to win this one. Only one way to find out, join TC live from 1pm for all the action at Nolans 4.

9.51 am

Nick Bonner -

The morning after, nobody looks forward to this. First of all i apologise to all our followers for being quiet throughout the night, however this man was on a mission. Unfortunately, our friend tgb was unable to get back into form at the synonymous Ivanhoe, instead choosing to keep you all updated through the night. Yes, it is correct, I did “lose my hookup virginity” as Brodie put it, and did sport a rather evident pash rash. Finally, bonner has the bragging rights on the cpcc nights out. Hopefully the runs keep coming. As tgb said stay tuned for the weekends to come. Will Brodie get back into form and live up to his nickname “Ivanhoes 100%er”? will anybody apart from bonner, brodes and Tom come out to party? And the question on everybody’s lips, will Dunny come back from Thailand with a tranny ( I think we all know the answer). Yes, all these questions will be answered in the weeks to come. So keep the cpcc shenanigans in favourites to ensure you are the first one to know. Until next week, bonner out.

3.29 am

Brodie Elliott -

The night is over as TC and Bonner depart from the bus at Dee Why main, with walks ahead of them. The night was quality at Shark Bar with disapointing early departures from Kassy and Jess. This had serious ramification at Ivanhoe, however ‘Lady Revolter’ Bonner was able to salavage a hook up, losing his hook up virginity. Full credit to the man, however he did bare some of the worst pash rasb I’ve ever witnessed. In summary a great night. Please join us in further weeks to hear about all the action to come. Surely TGB must be due, hes 21 in less than 20 days.

3.09 am

Brodie Elliott -

A maximum 35 second kiss and Bonner is currently baring some of the worst pash rash I’ve ever witnessed. #hookupvirginity #buthshewasprettyhot

2.45 am

Brodie Elliott -

You know its been a bad night when Bonner has sealed the deal with some chick and you have’t.

2.15 am

Brodie Elliott -

Get around him Bonner has lost his hook up virginity

2.12 am

Brodie Elliott -

Bonner might be in here get around him!!!!

12.55 am

Brodie Elliott -

To the hoe we ride

11.46 pm

Brodie Elliott -

I’m crying. Surpise the one and only DLe is the DJ at Shark Bar and I’m loving every minute

11.36 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Fergaliciois is onnnn try Brodalicous

11.05 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Kassy and TC have disappeared at bottom level Shark Bar. I want on sex in the bathroom and another on TC not lasting more than 30 seconds.

10.37 pm

Brodie Elliott -

The trip to Manly tonight was upsetttling low on bus wankers. But we certainly salvaged yelling out of the car with some quality big show.

9.53 pm

Nick Bonner -

Grey goose, the ugly duckling that is always late to bloom

9.48 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Oh god and hes followed it up with Sandstorm, I can honestly die happy.

9.46 pm

Nick Bonner -

What a cracking start to the night, vodka shots, mario kart and beer, hopefully an omen for the night to come

9.46 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Oh ooohhhh god TC has just put on the Big Show, my ears are in heaven.

9.43 pm

Brodie Elliott -

As I sit on TC’s bed sheepishly sipping at my vodka shot. I can’t help but wait to go out with the gang in Manly. To pump the crew up, an extensive session of Nitendo Wii, featuring Mario Kart and Super Smash Brothers. I of course cleaned up in Super Smash sending any challengers to all parts of each arena. Sonic OP!!!

6.48 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Cam where the hell are you? I’m currenty sitting on the Nolans 4 pitch, Cricket ball in hand and waiting for a fycking cricket bat that you promised me more than an hour ago.

In other new Cassy defeats Nirav in a street race from TCs house to KFC after a swift manouver on the inside of a right hand turn.

5.39 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Well what an enthralling day of cricket after the late wicket of the firing Dockrill, which I may add is one of the most fucked decisions I’ve ever witnessed. Breakers finish 3-41 in reply to Harbord’s 157. I feel the Diggers will be contempt on a solid days cricket and certainly feel on top after a last ball wicket before stumps. For the Breakers there is a lot of work to do but hopefully they can rally tomorrow and make a game of it and you always feel they have a chance when De Beer is in the shed.

Catch Tom Carden and I from 1pm tomorrow for the remainder of this match and continuing an expert analysis of the World Cup Final Aus vs NZ. Up the Big Show.

5.33 pm

TC -

No way. LBW given. Dockrill tries to flick to leg and huge shout goes up. It was going down for sure AND he got an edge on it. Shocker to finish the day and that hurts Breakers. Umpire hang your head in shame.

5.32 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Dunstan to Dockrill, SIX Soggy Biscuits! Pulled over mid wicket and into the drain for a maximum.

5.31 pm

TC -

Full from Dunstan and flicked for one by some dude

5.30 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Dunstan to Dockrill, 1 run, worked off the hip to fine leg. Bowled in by Rathore

5.30 pm

TC -

And we have yet another over here due to the speediness of that over.
Dockrill on strike, shit ball down leg and Dockrill can’t cash in.

5.29 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Rathore to random guy, no ball, no run, defended to mid off

5.29 pm

TC -

And yes they’ve lost interest now. He can’t bowl it on the stumps. I mean chuck it on the stumps

5.28 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Rathore to random guy, no ball, no run, left outside off stump

5.28 pm

TC -

Yet another chuck, shorter this time another regulation leave outside off. More ooos. Watson would be proud.

5.28 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Rathore to random guy, no ball, no run, clipped to short fine leg fielder

5.27 pm

TC -

Right last over here
And it’s a chuck, left outside off stump. Oooos from Harbord but it was regulation

5.27 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Last over about to commence, being brought to ball by ball by TC and TGB

5.26 pm

TC -

Another LBW shout but the pistol stays in the holster this time. Was down leg for sure

5.24 pm

TC -

Sorry guys Niravs an idiot there’s still 7 minutes left so at least two overs for sure.

5.23 pm

TC -

Last over here folks. Dunstan is on.

5.17 pm

TC -

Rathore hasn’t bowled a legitimate delivery yet. What a farce of an afternoon. Breakers should have an extra 20 runs here.

5.17 pm

Brodie Elliott -

After a team piss break I return to this equation:

4 over remaining in the day, 2-20 after Harbord made 157 earlier in the day. Its vital another wicket is not lost by the breakers before stumps if they are any chance of resurrecting this innings.

5.13 pm

TC -

Group piss break here

5.09 pm

TC -

And holy shit Dockrill has a shot that isn’t a pull! He gets on the front foot and smashes it over mid off for 4.

5.06 pm

Brodie Elliott -

And Walker, like his name is walking off. Campbell fires in a full pitched delivery accompanied with an unnecessarily loud grunt which strikes him low on the pads. The umpire takes no time in firing him.

5.04 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Big Blow! Thomas is out, clearly he felt his 3 wickets were more than enough of a contribution to this game as he knicks over to first off Rathore.

The score is 1-12 as Walker comes to the crease coming off a solid 50 against Collaroy.

4.53 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Oh dear, change of innings entertainment has gone terrible wrong as a wayward David Lee pie is left by Sam and goes flying into TC’s head.

Meanwhile, pitcher Rathore is chucking down his first over and Dockrill is off to a great start smacking Rathore over midwicket for four of the finest.

4.44 pm

TC -

Drinks break now. And during the break I was just telling Brodie how rubbish his World Cup Xi is. Here’s mine.

T Dilshan
B McCullum
S Smith
K Sangakarra
AB de Villiers
G Maxwell aka THE BIG SHOW
Shakib al Hasan
Vettori
Starc
Wahab Riaz
Boult

4.41 pm

Brodie Elliott -

And Campbell, the sheepshagger falls victim to a rare second good ball in an innings from Taylor.

Harbord all out for 156

And CPCC boys feel as if they have enough. The Breakers have huddled and our now heading back to their kits to begin preparation for the chase.

4.32 pm

Brodie Elliott -

And the next one goes, Taylor has bowled his one good delivery for the innings and traps the batsman infront for LBW.

9-156

4.14 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Trouble trouble oh dear trouble. Both Kaye and his partner end up at the same end of the wicket after some handy feeling at gully. Kaye for some reason sacrifices himself instead of the flog at the other end and is run out by the bowler who gather from the fielder.

8-143

4.09 pm

TC -

Just took a walk over to Nolans 1 and the score in 1st Grade is 4/115, Harbord batting first. Some work to do for Cromer.

3.56 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Kaye is doing his best to put the total out of Breaker grasp. Hes hit a four and two big sixes in the last few overs.

45 overs 7-128

3.44 pm

Brodie Elliott -

GET AROUND IT BOYS THE BEERS ARE OUT!!!!

3.42 pm

Brodie Elliott -

The Cannon has been fired! Karl hits it straight to point off Fisher. Shit is sure getting wickets today. Thomas with 3 and Fisher with 2.

7-118

3.40 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Well fuck me, I can’t believe it! Thomas has a third for christ sake. The batsman comes down the wicket looking to hit it over mid on which he doesn’t. In fact he hits it straight to him. This bowling reminds me of of Ryan Dunne at his off spin peak.

6-118

3.35 pm

Brodie Elliott -

As both teams make there way back out to the middle and Davos sausage roll cools in the afternoon breeze, I can’t help but feel this game is completely 50/50 as it stands. It should be a great afternoon of cricket as we start demolishing some beers. Kaye is at the crease and Fisher to continue after tea.

3.19 pm

Brodie Elliott -

LBW!!! Thomas has one more before tea and the breakers are right back in this contest. The Harbord batsman gets well forward to defend a full straight delivery from the slow bowler and misses it. The umpire gives some thought, as he was a long way down the pitch but eventually decides to give him out.

5-118 at tea

3.17 pm

Brodie Elliott -

There’s the fourth for the breakers, Harbord’s chirpy wicket keeper hits a ball ball straight to point off Fisher and holds his ground claiming a bump ball. The umpires both tell him hes dreaming and off he goes.

4-115

3.06 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Oh deary me, there’s the third. Breaker’s openning batsman Thomas has come on to roll a few cheeky right arm othardox over and picked up a weak wicket from the batsman. He rocks back and lolly pops a ball outside off straight to backward point.

3-113

2.46 pm

Brodie Elliott -

GOT HiM, Breakers have played the last 10 over pretty well as the the runs have dried up and this has lead to the downfall of Dunstan. De Beer fires in a full leg stump yorker and Dunstan looks to flick the ball over midwicket. The ball beats the outside edge and cannons into leg stump.

2/96

2.37 pm

Brodie Elliott -

As the game enters a bit of a lul some quality conversation amongst the Collaroy Boys. My 2015 World Cup XI:

1.Guptil

2.McCullum

3. Sangakara

4. Smith

5. De Villiers

6. THE BIG SHOW (c)

7. Anderson

8. Vertori

9. Starc

10. Morkel

11. Boult

12th: mullbulla guy from bangladesh

2.25 pm

TC -

Great news from Nolans there, great to see the big South African pick up Breakers first. Why he doesn’t open is beyond me.

The news isn’t so good here at North Sydney 2, Jake has hit a catch to short cover and is already gone. Manly struggling at 6/140. Thus ends our commentary from this grade match. I’ll be joining Brodie at Nolans 4 shortly.

2.20 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Got him!!! And De Beer has his man, Dunstan is still in but the other openner is out. A brute of a bouncer from De Beer that sees him fending the ball away to the keeping for a catch. 1-77

2.14 pm

TC -

Ed Burgess has been dismissed and Jake Carden is now at the crease here at North Sydney. 5/134.

2.07 pm

Brodie Elliott -

And thats Dunstan’s 50 with the score moving to 0-76. De Beer has looked lifeless without his headband and looks rather agitated at first slip right now.

1.47 pm

Brodie Elliott -

And the chant echoes around the ground but no headband is present on De Beer’s head as he strolls in for his first delivery of the afternoon.

1.44 pm

Brodie Elliott -

6 BISCUITS!!! Dunstan slaps Hall long and high through midwicket for a maximum. De Beer has already seen enough as he begins to stretch his arms.

1.41 pm

TC -

Another wicket has fallen here at North Sydney 2. LBW again. Ed Burgess at the crease now, we might see some action. Manly are 4/113.

1.40 pm

Brodie Elliott -

Dangerous signs for Breakers early here as Harbord move to 0-30. The field set by MB are allowing for easy legside singles which are being picked off by the two Harbord openners along with the occasional expansive shot.

1427510241456-1280252210

1.29 pm

Brodie Elliott -

I’ve just arrived at the ground and Harbord have won the toss and elected to bat. The score is at 0/17. A strong start for the diggers at the long grass of nolans 4.

12.59 pm

TC -

Manly have lost another wicket 4th ball after lunch. Big shout for Lbw and given. 3/79.

12.54 pm

Brodie Elliott -

As play nears to an open at Nolans, let us briefly discuss the form of both teams over the season. Firstly Harbord have been the front-runners for the majority of the season, with a rather ‘win at all costs’ attitude and only having suffered a singular loss for the season. Breakers on the other hand have been the quiet achievers in comparison with the most consistent top four batsman in the comp throughout the year. Their issue however will be overcoming Harbord formidable bowling attack spearheaded by the notorious left arm pitcher Rathore. Regardless today’s game is sure to be a cracker.

12.40 pm

TC -

Thanks for that brilliant preview there Brodie. I’m sitting here at the beautiful North Sydney 2 where Manly are 2/79 at lunch. I arrived just in time to see Tom Kaye get bowled for a golden duck. Plateau superstar Jake Carden is due in at number 7. Finishing higher on the table, Manly will be looking to simply bat for as long as they can.

12.03 pm

Brodie Elliott -

This afternoon marks one of a small degree of significance, a semi-anticipated match up between the 2nd grade finalists Manly Breakers and Harbord Diggers. Both sides have earned their place in the grand final, with Harbord making easy work of the Long Reed Trainwrecks and the Breakers pulling off a miracle win against Collaroy Plateau. Breakers were lucky to have played Collaroy in the semi after a third of the CPCC team were backing up a 3 day bender in Radelaide including their captain TC and International Import Niravacardo.
Conditions for today are clear with a maximum temperature of a shrill 22 Degrees Celsius. Play is to commence at Nolans 4 at 1pm (AEDT). I will be back with TC for the commencement of play, beer in hand and Hungry Jacks by my side.

9.03 pm

TC -

Chick invited on stage to play guitar, does pretty well then Billy Joe lets her keep the guitar. Pretty wicked!

8.14 pm

TC -

Longview! All good until some dude is invited up to sing. He sucks and he sings the wrong words.

8.03 pm

TC -

Billy Joe seems to be struggling with either his voice or the mic through Wake Me Up When September Ends.

8.00 pm

TC -

Must day I don’t think this crowd is anywhere near as big as the Big Day Out crowd for Pearl Jam.

7.57 pm

TC -

Green Day are under way, Holiday playing as I enter the stadium.

11.12 am

TC -

Welcome to the live blog! Updates will commence from about 1pm. Stay tuned!

9.47 pm

TC -

Try Hodges. Yawn.

9.37 pm

TC -

Missed again by Smith. 26-6.

9.36 pm

TC -

Yes NZ are gone. Beautiful ball from Gallen puts Slater off again.

Thurston puts a nice grubber through and Morris finishes it off, this could be big. 26-6.

9.34 pm

TC -

Lewis strolls in for another TRY. Over.

9.30 pm

TC -

Smith hits the post from the sideline, it remains 16-6.

9.29 pm

TC -

TRY TIME again for Aus, backline movement see’s Morris go in on the wing. Luke Lewis made a line break prior to get the into field position. Was afraid this would happen, as soon as Aus got some good consistent ball, and with NZ tired from really putting in in the first half, they are starting to roll over them. 16-6.

9.26 pm

TC -

Smith converts, 12-6.

9.25 pm

TC -

TRY. What was Hoffman doing. Had a chance to clean it up but Inglis dived around him and scored the try. 10-6 to Aus.

9.24 pm

TC -

VIDEO REF for Australia, a lot of things that could be wrong with this, penalties errors… But is it all ok?

8.56 pm

TC -

Converted by Johnson. 6-6! Game on and to be honest, NZ are on top at the moment!

8.55 pm

TC -

TTRRRYYYYY. SLATER HAS BEEN SMASHED. Right on the half time buzzer, the grubber went through from Pritchard of all people. Slater had it covered but was too casual, he missed the attempted flick dead and Josh Hoffman jumped on it for a FOUR POINTER. 6-4 to AUS.

8.53 pm

TC -

GI goes straight through! But can’t complete the pass to Boyd on the wing. Great cover from Foran. Then knocked on by Aus. NZ get a penalty and will go on the attack yet again.

8.52 pm

TC -

Crap chip kick from Foran is knocked on by Perrett. STILL no points for NZ.

8.50 pm

TC -

NZ has the Aus line under siege, drop out forced, here they come again.

8.49 pm

TC -

Marvellous strategic bomb from NZ. It went straight up near the halfway line, bounced around a lot then Thurston knocked it on! Great tactics..

8.47 pm

TC -

NZ manage to balls it up again.

8.47 pm

TC -

Video ref agaaaiiiinnn!!!! Ref reckons it is a TRY this time, I didn’t see a NZer jump on the ball. Foran grubbered into the in goal area……Hodges tried to knock it dead, Pritchard reaches out AND knocks it on…. Geeeeeez

8.44 pm

TC -

Wonderful kick from Johnson, 40/20!! And NZ will go on the attack yet again, they have had so many opportunities, can they finally cash in???

8.41 pm

TC -

They bloody Kiwi idiot, it is Nightingale, has tackled Hodges without the ball after he dropped it. No Try, penalty. Stupid stuff.

8.40 pm

TC -

Video ref to NZ again. Ref reckons it is No Try. It was scrappy.

8.38 pm

TC -

I’m telling ya, this is better quality than channel 9.

8.38 pm

TC -

Struggling to pull an audience today, don’t think we’ll be too high up in the ratings, Google tells us with have 0 viewers at the moment.

8.37 pm

TC -

It was Shaun Johnson with the brilliant coat hangering there.

8.37 pm

TC -

Bloody hell, forward pass and Bird knocks on then he is unnecessarily coat hangered by the Kiwi dude. Kiwi ball bro.

8.35 pm

TC -

It was Alex Glenn.

8.34 pm

TC -

Here come New Zealand again! And possible TRY, or has he lost it? Video ref rules NO TRY. It was close though. Not sure who it was, the shit commentators won’t say he’s name, but it was number 17.

8.26 pm

TC -

Possible try to Aus but there is a knock on in there, NZ escape.

8.23 pm

TC -

Superstar Kevin Proctor has dropped the ball with NZ once again in an attacking position. A few early opportunities for NZ not taken. Very likely to hurt them.

8.19 pm

TC -

No dice for NZ, not much in attach then a lacklustre kick is taken by Nightingale on the Wing, but wrapped up easily by the Aus defenders. 6-0 to Aus.

8.17 pm

TC -

Brett Morris shows why he has an origin spot ahead of Merritt by charging in and dropping a bomb. New Zealand get a penalty after than and have a full set on the line.

8.14 pm

TC -

And the score for TC’s bet is 14.5-6

8.14 pm

TC -

TRY AUSTRALIA, Matt Scott exploits some soft defense off a short ball from Cronk, he gets an arm free and offloads back to Cronk who strolls over under the posts. 4-0.

8.06 pm

TC -

Sooo the Haka has been done and looks like we’re finally going to kick off.

8.05 pm

TC -

As usual, a few disgraceful dick heads yell out during the minutes silence.

7.59 pm

TC -

So apparently the big yellow group of Aussie supporters up one end is called the Roo Crew…. Fantastic name that….

7.57 pm

TC -

Finally the teams coming out.

7.52 pm

TC -

I’m backing the Tim Sheens factor to make this game a close one!

We’re off to another ad break, even though the game was meant to start 7 minutes ago. Still have the national anthems and the haka to come!

7.51 pm

TC -

AND HE’S BACK. Tom Waterhouse graces our screens again.

7.49 pm

TC -

Getting serious for a minute – we’ve actually taken New Zealand with a 14.5 start. Can they stay within reach?

Meanwhile, they are still in the dressing rooms. Game kicked off 4 minutes ago guys, what’s doing!

7.48 pm

TC -

Mannering out. Game farce rating goes up even more.

7.47 pm

TC -

Do all these lines and shaded areas do anything except confuse the sh!t out of us?

7.46 pm

TC -

Plenty of empty seats in Canberra, thought it was meant to be a sell-out???

7.44 pm

TC -

Ohhh there’s my mate Tom Waterhouse. Piss off.

7.44 pm

TC -

We have officially turned the TV on. And it is an ad break. Isn’t the game starting in 30 seconds????

7.40 pm

TC -

Welcome to our coverage. We can’t tell you anything right now, because we haven’t even turned on the TV. Why would we want to watch bloody Tom Waterhouse tell us how Australia have shortened to 1.01 odds? Here’s TC’s market.

Will the game start on time?
Yes – 101.00
No – 1.01

They have 5 minutes.

5.16 pm

TC -

6ths: WICKET and that is it!! Last batsman not coming out for whatever reason, Diggers are all out, PREMIERSHIP TO SIXTH GRADE!!!

5.11 pm

TC -

6ths: WICKET, 2 to go now.

5.08 pm

TC -

Jeff was the wicket taker.

5.07 pm

TC -

1sts: WICKET, so another one falls but too little too late it seems.

5.00 pm

TC -

He has 4 wickets now.

5.00 pm

TC -

6ths: Jake Carden back into the attack and gets a breakthrough. Skittles the stumps and Diggers are 7 down.

4.59 pm

TC -

So there has been no joy for firsts. No more wickets and right now it looks all over.

We may be a little sparse in our updates from now, but I think it is pretty safe to assume that it will be victory to 6ths and defeat for 1sts. If anything changes we’ll be back.

There has been no further wickets in 6ths but there is not risk of Diggers getting the runs.

4.28 pm

TC -

Another wicket in 6ths! 7 down now.

4.18 pm

TC -

1sts: MASSIVE APPEAL. Brendo is on the ground, pleading, but no says the ump. Ball not happy, as usual.

4.16 pm

TC -

4 wickets required for 6ths.

4.14 pm

TC -

6ths: WICKET, caught behind, Keiron Nixon the bowler. Matter of time for 6ths now!!!

4.13 pm

TC -

Hammond into the attack now, 1/14 off 12.

4.09 pm

TC -

Harbord are 1/12 off 11. About 24 overs to go. (Firsts)

4.02 pm

TC -

6ths: WICKET, Jake gets another one. Great diving catch from Horstead at mid off. Another one down!

4.00 pm

TC -

1sts: Brooksy pitches up, OUT, great ball, moved in the air and the batsman was forced to play at it. Took an edge and taken by Dom at keeper. 1 down, 9 to go for the Plateau. Harbord 1/4.

3.59 pm

TC -

6ths: WICKET, Jake Carden bowling and it is hit straight down mid on’s throat. They take a step closer to another premiership. Great partnership broken, awesome effort from the two young fellas.

3.54 pm

TC -

6ths: 3/75 off 39. Diggers will need to up the scoring.

1sts: Declared at tea, 90 ahead. Harbord are now batting how they should have at the beginning of today, defending their wicket. 0/1 off 4.

3.24 pm

TC -

And that will be tea. 1st grade are 6/130 odd, leading by about 80. They will be looking for some more quick runs after tea before declaring and trying to roll Harbord again.
6th grade have Diggers 3/62 at tea – well on top with only 32 overs for them left to bowl.

3.16 pm

TC -

OUT – Albanese advances well down the track but misses it. Another easy stumping for the keeper

3.15 pm

TC -

Albanese smashes one over mid off for FOUR

3.13 pm

TC -

Burgess on the bowl – Steve Albanese top edges the first ball over the keepers head for a couple

3.08 pm

TC -

OUT, another stumping, Malam advances but plays around it and easily stumped. 5/125, lead of 79.

3.06 pm

TC -

SIX, premeditated step outside off and hoofed over backward square leg. Malam getting some good runs here!!

3.04 pm

TC -

Malam charges and smashes this one over cover, pulls up though and they get 2.

3.03 pm

TC -

FOUR, Malam belts this one, cow corner slog, in the gap and just short of a 6.

3.02 pm

TC -

Malam plays this one to deep point, fielder picks it up and he is charging back for the second. Throws in and misses and Malam is safe.

3.00 pm

TC -

Runs have dried up a little. Malam and Minnett turning over the strike but not much in the way of boundaries.

3.00 pm

TC -

Firsts 4/109, lead of 63.

2.56 pm

TC -

Wow. Rank short ball from Harbord, it is a mile over Malam’s head, and wide of off to. But not called wide??? Very strange. It was ridiculously high. Call from the crowd is “bring out the step ladder”!

2.53 pm

TC -

Sorry 4/100 off 14. Lead of 54.

2.52 pm

TC -

4/97 off 14. Lead of 51.

2.50 pm

TC -

Luke Hammond scored 27.

OUT, soft dismissal for Wheeler, advances to the spinner and tries to turn him, but misses and is stumped.

2.47 pm

TC -

Losing wickets isn’t really much of an issue at the moment for the Plateau, they’ve just got to keep the flow of runs going to give themselves something to bowl at.

2.46 pm

TC -

1sts: OUT, Mossy tries to go over mid on but hits it straight to the man, caught.

2.45 pm

TC -

SIX, all going Plateau’s way at the moment, Mossy creams this one to backward square leg, fielder gets a hand to it but never had a chance, he tips it over for 6.

2.44 pm

TC -

FOUR, Mossy now, great drive through mid off to the boundary, Plateau building some good momentum here. 2/86 off 17. Lead of 40.

2.43 pm

TC -

1sts: SIX, Domer goes way over mid on, fielder has no chance its a maximum.

2.37 pm

TC -

6ths: WICKET, wow. GB bowling and it hits Caproni very high. Appeal goes up and pistol Pete fires him without hesitation. Rough call there, was definitely going over the stumps. Nevertheless, GO THE PLATEAU!! 3/50 odd.

2.35 pm

TC -

OUT, spinner on and Hammond smashes this one deep to leg side, but there is a man there and he is caught on the boundary. 2/61 with a lead of 15. Come on Plateau!!!

2.27 pm

TC -

Firsts 1/55, 8 overs gone, lead by 9.

2.25 pm

TC -

FOUR more, Hammond rocks band and pulls this short ball to the fence.

2.25 pm

TC -

1/50, Plateau lead by 4, time to start building a big total now.

2.24 pm

TC -

SHOT, Hammond plays a beautiful drive over the top of mid off, it’s slow out there however and it pulls up, just 2.

2.22 pm

TC -

Taylor to Wheeler, advances down the pitch very early and smashes it, clean hit, and it sails over the boundary for SIX at backward square leg!!

2.21 pm

TC -

1/40 at Firsts, they have nearly taken the lead!

2.19 pm

TC -

Jake Carden and Joel Wood the wicket takers at 6ths.

2.17 pm

TC -

Full toss and smashed by Dom to the square leg boundary for FOUR.

2.16 pm

TC -

2/36 at 6ths.

2.12 pm

TC -

OUT, Taylor bowls Paps, yorker length and he went for the big slog again. Lost his head and his polls. 1/28.

2.08 pm

TC -

Plateau have raced to about 25.

2.08 pm

TC -

Bang, Paps slogs another one, to cow corner this time, somehow it pulls up and they only get 2.

2.06 pm

TC -

Paps tries to go over mid off, doesn’t quite get it but it is safe and gets a single.

2.06 pm

TC -

SHOT, FOUR, short and wide from Taylor and Hammond nonchalant smashes him through point to the boundary, great shot.

2.04 pm

TC -

Tries to go again, stands him ground this time and its an inside edge to short fine leg.

2.04 pm

TC -

Wooaaahh, wild swing this time from Paps, advances and has a very windy whoosh, loses his head and looked a bit silly there.

2.03 pm

TC -

FOUR, short this time and Paps pulls confidently for 4.

2.02 pm

TC -

Full toss from Taylor and Paps edges and it is way over the top of slip and gully. FOUR runs.

2.01 pm

TC -

Quick single to Hammond, from from forward point just misses the stumps at the keepers end.

2.00 pm

TC -

Streaky edge over backward point now from Paps. Just pulls up and they get 2.

GB now bowling, he can barely walk but he’s BOWLING!!! WTF!!!

1.58 pm

TC -

GB struggling with a hamstring injury out in 6ths. Trying to soldier on.

Meanwhile Paps smokes a 4 behind square.

1.52 pm

TC -

Over at 6ths now, CPCC all out for 204. They now have Diggers 2/about 40.

1.47 pm

TC -

Harbord all out for 119. The lead by 46 and there are 55 overs left in the day.

Burgess top scores for Harbord with 24.

Brooks 4/38 off 15
Hammond 0/25 off 6
Ball 0/7 off 4
Porter-Denning 6/45 off 12

1.44 pm

TC -

OUT, JEFF gets 6 wickets, brilliantly bowled, insane batting from Harbord, caught at mid on trying to go over the top again. Plateau will now try and build a quick total here.

1.38 pm

TC -

Five wickets for Jeffrey, he’s bowled very well both yesterday and today, thoroughly deserves it.

1.36 pm

TC -

1.36 pm

TC -

Porter Denning continues to pitch up and OUT, tried to flick it across the line, misses it and hit the pad pretty adjacent. Umpire spends a bit of time thinking about then lifts the finger. Harbord 9 down now, CPCC still in this.

1.33 pm

TC -

FOUR again, strays to leg and it is hoiked comfortably for four runs.

1.32 pm

TC -

Pitched up from Jeff, FOUR, stroked beautifully, flat through mid off and all the way to the boundary.

1.28 pm

TC -

JPD drops this one in short and its pulled away to the square leg boundary for FOUR.

1.27 pm

TC -

Goes again, gets it this time and its slogged waaay over mid wicket for 6.

1.26 pm

TC -

Harbord batsman has a slog again, mows it to leg and there is an awesome stop at short mid wicket.

1.21 pm

TC -

JPD pitches full and outside off, it is swung at by the Harbord batsman but misses. Strange tactics by Harbord who seem to be attacking when surely they should be trying to bat out as many overs as they can. CPCC are the ones that need to rush, not them.

1.19 pm

TC -

Big start here at Nolans 1 for the Plateau, 3 quick wickets for 1sts, Brooksy and JPD have 4 each. Harbord 8/98 off 28 overs.

5.56 pm

TC -

Thanks for joining us today on TC Ink, we’ll be back tomorrow from 1pm, hopefully there will be a turn of events in first! Cheers, TC.

5.54 pm

TC -

Poor Lukey Hammond, after top scoring for the Plateau and slugging it out opening the bowling, including being dropped by the Dominator Vominator “better put this on Facebook” Wheeler, has been made to go around and pick up every single boundary marker, while the rest of the team have run off to the Brooky Pub to watch Manly.

5.44 pm

TC -

HAHA fantastic, 6 slips and a gully in for GB. Silly mid off, silly mid on and GB leaves without any concern and marches off smugly! Plateau still well on top in 6ths grade.

5.42 pm

TC -

So we return to 6ths. GB and Deefa are still going of course.

5.41 pm

TC -

STUMPS. We finish today with Harbord 4/76 and in a commanding position.

5.39 pm

TC -

JPD in and BOWLED. Wild mow to square leg attempted by the Harbord batsman but he has completely missed it, like a man feebly swinging a piece of spaghetti at a pea, and he has been comprehensively castled.

5.37 pm

TC -

Harbord 3/75 off 22.

5.35 pm

TC -

Brooksy bowls one half volley length outside off and its stroked through covers for 2.

5.32 pm

TC -

Full, edged, but nobody home, 2 runs to Harbord and they take first innings victory. A deep hole for the Plateau to get out of now. Harbord 3/75

5.31 pm

TC -

Full toss from Jeff, who is around the wicket now, and hit through covers for 2. Scores tied.

5.29 pm

TC -

Rain has eased off. JPD to continue. Apologies for making everything think Brendo got a wicket then!! It was actually Brooksy, fixed now.

5.26 pm

TC -

Brooksy to Astin, OUT, Astin was looking to get the extra 4 runs as soon as possible with a bit of rain falling and he went for the big tonk down the ground. He has skied it very high in the area and Mossy runs around at mid on and takes a superb catch. 4/70.

5.25 pm

TC -

Raining a bit, Harbord need 4 to take the lead.

5.23 pm

TC -

So much for that, strays to the leg side and he is put away, FOUR runs to backward square leg.

5.22 pm

TC -

JPD, beats the outside edge. Probing is he.

5.20 pm

TC -

Harbord 3/64 chasing CPCC’s 73 all out.

5.16 pm

TC -

Astin on strike to JPD, he is zoning into the stumps COME ON JEFF!!

5.15 pm

TC -

Harbord are 3/61 off about 17

5.14 pm

TC -

Tide really turning at 6th grade. 8/188 off 61 overs. But it’s the combo that saved them last week at the crease now, Dee and GB. They’ll see out the overs for sure!!

5.13 pm

TC -

Brendo sending some more fruit down legside. No runs but again, not chance of a wicket. Perhaps struggling with how much it is moving?

5.11 pm

TC -

Controversy, fullish my Jeff, hit straight to cover, Plateau think they have a dismissal but the umpires convene and decide its a bump ball. Wow.

5.09 pm

TC -

Jeff has found a good line outside off now, few balls left alone.

5.09 pm

TC -

Good ball from Jeff, he has it swinging into the stumps but perhaps just a bit too far to leg and the batsman is good enough to latch onto it and send it flying for FOUR.

5.07 pm

TC -

Very important that the bowlers use the swing. Conditions have been ripe for moving the ball and Harbord managed to take full advantage. Pitch the ball up, move it and you’re in business. JPD to begin over 2.

5.06 pm

TC -

APPEAL, looked very good from Brendo, given not out, perhaps pitched outside leg to the lefty, or maybe some bat on it.

5.04 pm

TC -

There will be no smashing of sunnies from JPD after that over, he’ll be pleased.

5.03 pm

TC -

Leg sidish from Jeff and it hits the body, Dom fails to stop it and they grab a couple of leg byes.

5.01 pm

TC -

Jeff Porter-Denning into the attack from the Pittwater Road end. WICKET. He strikes straight away. Length ball and the batsman tries to go over mid on, doesn’t get it at all and he’s caught by Paps! 3/52

4.58 pm

TC -

Full toss from Brendo and Astin easily smokes this over the in field for FOUR at mid wicket. 2/52.

4.57 pm

TC -

A lot of deliveries down leg here from Brendo, no runs but not going to get any wickets doing that. Making life hard from Dom at keeper too.

4.56 pm

TC -

TC back in the chair for the moment, 1st grade back on the field after a short drinks break. Desperate times for the Plateau, they need a miracle. Quick wickets a must.

4.54 pm

TC -

at 6th grade Carden has been dismissed caught behind. Plateau now 5/175 odd

4.52 pm

TC -

1st grade and Plateau are struggling. Harboard are 2/48 off 13 at drinks

4.48 pm

TC -

score update for for 3rd grade. Harboard Diggers are 0/20 chasing a modest 130 posted by Dee Why.

4.47 pm

TC -

Hammond into the batsman wide of off stump and he’s flashed at it, its taken the edge and Wheeler at full stretch and he’s put it down….. tragedy at 1sts, defending a small total means that every chance needs to be taken even difficult ones like those.

4.41 pm

TC -

around the grounds and 4th grade terry hills have st peters 8/122. Martin the skipper says that it is crucial to get these last 2 scalps quickly. apparently there is also a man well into his 70’s reliving his youth fielding in that game.

4.38 pm

TC -

at 1sts the harboard batsmen seem to be taking the game away from plateau here scoring pretty easily if a little streaky at times but still scoring quickly 2/35 off 9. at 6th grade drinks break plateau 4/164

4.29 pm

TC -

6th grade are 4/160 after 52 with Baber on 11 and Carden on 2 looking to build a big first innings score

4.28 pm

TC -

WICKET at 1sts. Brooksy in again and the batsmen hits the ball straight to Albanese who takes are sharp catch at point Harboard 2/15 off 5 and immediately the new batsman is flashing outside off stump

4.22 pm

TC -

that fall of wicket at 6th grade actually only being the 4th not the 5th wicket brings captain Jake Carden to the crease

4.19 pm

TC -

the brick stepping in for a guest commentary stint and straight away 1sts have started strong in their defence. Brooksy in to the batsman who hangs his bat outside off stump taking the edge through to the keeper Wheeler. Harboard Bowling 1 for not many chasing 73. At 6th grade Kerian dismissed caught and bowled sharp catch leaving them 5/150 odd. strong position for them to push on from.

4.06 pm

TC -

6ths are 3/ lots

4.05 pm

TC -

Seems every time we take a break we miss a lot of action. Unfortunately firsts have lost the remainder of their wickets for not many more runs. They have their work cut out for them defending 70. Harbord is about commence their innings.

3.23 pm

Bit of comedy as Brendo calls out for a drink, there is only one ball to go and he isn’t even facing!!!

1.32 pm

TC -

Burdon to Bennetts, OUT, bowled here as he goes for the big tonk. Jeff Porter-Denning to face the last ball.

1.31 pm

TC -

Bennetts launched into a beautiful lofted straight cover drive, foiled by the slow outfield again and they get 2.

1.31 pm

TC -

Brendo chopping across the line again, along the ground to mid on for a single.

1.30 pm

TC -

Burdon to Ball, no run as he hits it straight to mid off.

1.30 pm

TC -

Brendo on the front foot and hoiks it to cow corner, Man on the boundary runs in but they’ll get two.

1.29 pm

TC -

Last over, 7/279. Hopefully some big shots coming up here! Brendo 15, Bennetts 9.

1.28 pm

TC -

“20 OFF 10” is the call from the sideline from Minnett, mimicking the normal training routine done by the Plateau! Brendo lofts again to mid on and this time its a comfortable 2.

1.28 pm

TC -

WOW, Brendo lofts this one to mid on, straight to the fielder but they come back for a ridiculous two. Bowler takes out the stumps but he has DROPPED THE BALL. Bennetts was a mile out but gets away with it!!!

1.27 pm

TC -

Now Bennetts drives to mid off who is far enough back to let them grab a single.

1.26 pm

TC -

Driven now by Brendo to deep mid on for a single.

1.26 pm

TC -

Brendo flicks to wide mid on, they are flying between the wickets and manage to come back for a good 2.

1.25 pm

TC -

2 overs to go, 7/270.

1.25 pm

TC -

Burdon to Bennetts, beats point this time and this one is flying, it goes all the way to the boundary for FOUR at backward point.

1.24 pm

TC -

Again a lovely strike through covers from Bennetts, another two him. Plays that shot very well.

1.23 pm

TC -

Short and Bennetts cuts strongly but unfortunately finds the man at point, no run.

1.23 pm

TC -

Burdon to Bennetts, lovely cover drive, flies through the gap but it pulls up in the slow outfield. They get two, Bennetts off the mark, the single before was actually a leg bye.

1.22 pm

TC -

End of the over, 3 to go. 7/262.

1.21 pm

TC -

Bennetts flicks one off his body for 1 to short fine leg.

1.20 pm

TC -

Goes again, strokes it for 1 to mid on.

1.20 pm

TC -

Brendo goes long off Heywood, good strike and it is fielded at deep mid on boundary. 2 runs.

1.19 pm

TC -

Now Brendo his a gap at square leg and gets his single.

1.18 pm

TC -

Burdon to Brendo, defends to mid wicket, it is straight to the man and Brendo calls YES, Bennetts not interested at all and Brendo is forced to scramble back, fortunately miss-fielded and he is safe. Suicidal stuff from Brendo there.

1.16 pm

TC -

Cautious start from Dave Bennetts, defends the remaining balls in that over and there is 5 to go.

1.15 pm

TC -

Brendo off the mark, flicks Heywood to deep square leg for a single.

1.15 pm

TC -

Burdon to Albanese, OUT, wheels starting to fall off the Plateau innings, Burdon fires in a full toss and it hits Albanese on the front pad, Burdon goes up confidently and promptly given LBW by the umpire. 7/253, still 6 overs to go here. Bennetts the new batsman.

1.12 pm

TC -

Brenden Ball to the crease now, Albanese on strike.

1.12 pm

TC -

Burdon to Malam, OUT, Malam goes again, hit hard down the ground. Mid off is back however and it is straight to him. Malam unfortunately misses out and has to go for 2.

1.11 pm

TC -

Burdon in and Malam has a massive swipe outside off, he misses and well taken by the keeper who is up on the stumps to keep him in his crease.

1.10 pm

TC -

Steve Albanese is another who has struggled this season. Good opportunity for these two.

1.10 pm

TC -

End of the over it is 5/255 off 73. 7 overs left for the Plateau.

1.09 pm

TC -

Steve Albanese is the new batsman, he misses a full toss to begin with and it is a no ball.

1.09 pm

TC -

Heywood to Moss, OUT, Mossy goes for it again but doesn’t get this one, it flies in the air to mid wicket who takes a brilliant jumping catch up above his head. That concludes a brilliant knock from Mossy, he finishes on 118.

1.06 pm

TC -

Mossy jumps out to meet this one and he smacks it off the front foot through square leg and it flies to the boundary for FOUR!

1.06 pm

TC -

The spinner Heywood on from the other end, hits Mossy on the body, no run first up.

1.05 pm

TC -

Malam wastes no time getting into it here, strikes a booming lofted on drive. Pulls up in the outfield though and he is off the mark with a two. Good sign for him, it was a fairly clean hit.

1.04 pm

TC -

Single to mid on to Mossy.

1.04 pm

TC -

Mossy goes bang through covers again, identical to the first shot and it is another 2.

1.03 pm

TC -

Dot ball this time, defended off the back foot by Moss, he is 111.

1.03 pm

TC -

Mossy launches straight into it, a lovely cover drive splits the field. They comes back for 2.

1.02 pm

TC -

Burdon is the bowler, Mossy is on strike. In he comes.

1.01 pm

TC -

Malam hasn’t had the best of seasons and the big hitter has a chance here to smack a few around without any pressure on him.

12.59 pm

TC -

How many can Mossy add to his 109? Chance for a massive score here. Mona Vale are out in the middle and Malam and Mossy are on their way.

12.58 pm

TC -

Players are warming up and the umpires will be heading out to the middle soon. How many runs can the Plateau get off these 9 overs? They have plenty of wickets up their sleeve, so it wouldn’t be too outrageous to aim for 10 an over in my opinion!

11.31 am

TC -

Welcome to our coverage of Semi-finals day 2. We hope you enjoyed the commentary yesterday! And what a day it was, plenty of drama.

If you missed it, 1st Grade were in trouble yesterday at 3/36 against Mona Vale at Harbord Park. Captain Rob Minnett then joined David Moss at the crease to put on a wonderful 208 run stand. Mossy will resume today on 109, while Minnett was tragically run out for 99 on the final ball of the day. For a full recap check out yesterday’s blog. They finished the day 4/244, with 9 overs still to bat today.

6th Grade also recovered from a very dangerous position against Wakehurst at Lake Park. It took the experience of Andrew Davis to take the Plateau from 7/83 to 8/183. Davis is still going on 62. Cam Baber managed 35. They have 4 overs to bat today.

In a somewhat typical performance, 4th grade have already taken a first innings victory against Terrey Hills at Melwood. The Plateau were rolled for 82 but turned their fortunes around by flattening Terrey Hills for 62. They resume in the 2nd innings at 0/6 and will be hoping to just bat out the day!

3rd grade have a big challenge ahead of them today, they will be attempting to chase down Dee Why’s 205 up at Terrey Hills today. The 3rds side has a strong batting line-up so hopefully they will be able to make a good fist of that total!

The news wasn’t all good yesterday, unfortunately 2nds have already lost on first innings. They would have been confident after bowling Harbord out for 91, but the Plateau batsmen could never get going and they were rolled for 61. Hopefully a huge performance from them today to get back into the match.

5.36 pm

TC -

The good news continues, 6th grade have recovered to make 180!! Great news after they were 6/50.

5.35 pm

TC -

A tragic end but a great day for the Plateau. 4/244 off 71, they will bat through the last 9 overs tomorrow. Mossy will resume on 109.

5.33 pm

TC -

OH NO. Incredible scenes here. Missed the first ball then he hit the second into the outfield. He wanted to make the ton now so bad and they come back for an unlikely 2nd and in a travesty Minnett is run out by the keeper for 99. Very unfortunate way to end a fantastic knock, deserved the ton but perhaps got a bit too greedy there!

5.31 pm

TC -

Suicidal quick single to get Minnett back on strike, throw at the stumps misses and he’s there!! 2 balls to go!!!

5.30 pm

TC -

Can only manage a single to deep square leg, four balls left in the day with Mossy on strike!

5.30 pm

TC -

This will be the last over of the day, can Minnett make his ton or will he be stranded over night??

5.28 pm

TC -

Minnett going back and drives for 1, 97.

5.26 pm

TC -

3/239 off 69. Minnett still on 96.

5.25 pm

TC -

SHOT. SSIIXX runs to Minnett, slogs it to cow corner. 94!!!!

5.22 pm

TC -

ONE HANDED FOUR to Minnett down the ground, making it look easy now!! He’s 88.

5.20 pm

TC -

And again but just 2 this time, 82 for Rob Minnett. 3/222.

5.19 pm

TC -

FOUR more for Minnett, the trademark paddle to backward square leg. He moves to 80. 3/220 in the 67th over.

5.15 pm

TC -

ONE HUNDRED TO MOSSY!! Swings for the fence over mid wicket, it is in the gap, FOUR runs and 102 for Mossy. Perfect innings today, recovered the Plateau from a perilous position and now they are right in the box seat here.

5.13 pm

TC -

Mossy now, swwiiings for the fence but doesn’t quite get it, fielded at deep square leg, just the single. 98. 3/208.

5.12 pm

TC -

Pulls now for a single, 97 for Mossy.

5.11 pm

TC -

BOOM Mossy goes down the ground again, slow part of the ground at that end and it pulls up, they get two and he is 96.

5.11 pm

TC -

5.09 pm

TC -

Easy single to Minnett to bring up 200 with mid on and mid off on the boundary.

5.08 pm

TC -

Now it’s Minnett’s turn to go over cow corner, FOUR. 3/199!!!

5.07 pm

TC -

Pull shot for FOUR now and he’s 94!! Come on MOSSY!!!

5.06 pm

TC -

BOOM Mossy smashed this one to cow corner, it’s to the left of the man out there, one bounce FOUR.

5.06 pm

TC -

Dom Wheeler is also on fire, he’s in the midst of a mammoth umpiring spell. It’s been well over 20 overs! Probably umpired his junior team all morning too. Sublime stuff from the vominator!

5.02 pm

TC -

Around the grounds, more bad news, 2nd grade this time. Plateau did well to bowl Harbord out for 92. Also they are now 5/20 in reply. One good partnership is all that is needed for a first innings lead there!

4.58 pm

TC -

3/177 off 60. Big score looking imminent for the Plateau!!

4.57 pm

TC -

Now a pull shot to deep square leg for 2. Minnett 62.

4.56 pm

TC -

Now powers this one through mid off, deserved four but it pulls up short, they get 2 and he’s 60.

4.55 pm

TC -

FOUR, Minnett smashes this one over mid on. Moves onto 58.

4.53 pm

TC -

3/167 off 59.

4.52 pm

TC -

Minnett scoops high in the air, keeper can’t get to it and they get 2.

4.51 pm

TC -

3/164 off 58 is the score at First Grade. Mossy 80, Minnett 52, partnership of 126.

4.49 pm

TC -

Minnett glides to gully and there is a great diving save from the Mona Vale fielder.

4.47 pm

TC -

Beautiful lofted drive over mid off, great sound off the bat, Mossy on fire too here he moves into the 80’s with that FOUR.

4.45 pm

TC -

Minnett glides this one through gully, they take the single and its 50 for the legendary Rob Minnett!! 3/155.

4.44 pm

TC -

Minnett on fire!! Two FOURS and he moves to 49.

4.42 pm

TC -

The running between wickets is superb at the moment, quick single to Minnett at backward point. He is 41.

4.40 pm

TC -

Minnett SPANKS a NO BALL for SIX!! Classic Minnett scoop for a Six over mid-wicket.

4.38 pm

TC -

Shout out to Dom Wheeler for providing his mobile Internet! We may have just drained his iPhone’s battery to 7% but it for a very good cause! He’s doing a fine effort out there umpiring at the moment after failing with the bat earlier.

4.36 pm

TC -

Here’s footage of Mossy bringing up his 50

4.31 pm

TC -

100 partnership up between Mossy and Minnett, fantastic effort. Drinks break 3/136 off 54 overs.

4.24 pm

TC -

Mossy is 72, can he keep going and bring up a big ton??

4.24 pm

TC -

Bit of a recovery at Lake Park, 6th grade 7/100 there.

4.16 pm

TC -

First grade are 3/120 off 50 overs. Looking very good at the moment here.

4.14 pm

TC -

Great running there, Rob scoops it to fine leg and Mossy pushes hard for the 3, they make it easily.

4.12 pm

TC -

Now a fantastic drive from Mossy. Powers it down the ground, it makes a great sound of the bat and that’s FOUR.

4.11 pm

TC -

Now some luck for Mossy, goes for the big drive and it flies over slips. Pulls up short of the boundary and they get 2.

4.10 pm

TC -

Mossy has moved onto 63, Minnett is 19.

4.08 pm

TC -

This partnerhip worth over 70 now.

4.05 pm

TC -

FOUR, Mossy cuts just over points head and it flies to the boundary. The outfield gotten a lot quicker out there and the runs flowing now for CPCC.

4.03 pm

TC -

This time Mossy hits it off his legs to deep fine leg, there are no fielders there and they run 3. That is the 100 up for the Plateau.

4.02 pm

TC -

Followed up by a beautiful pull shot from Mossy for FOUR.

4.01 pm

TC -

Burdon to Minnett, FOUR, on his legs and scoops it up brilliantly, just doesn’t carry for 6 at the square leg boundary.

3.56 pm

TC -

50 up for David Moss, cuts through cover for 2. Batting beautifully. We’ve got footage of him bringing up the footage, will be uploaded momentarily.

3.54 pm

TC -

44 overs gone, Plateau 1sts are 3/87. Moss on strike on 48

3.51 pm

TC -

Single to Mossy through square leg, 48 now.

3.46 pm

TC -

Bourden to Mossy, latish cut to backward point for a couple, Moss to 47 now. End of 43, 3/85.

3.44 pm

TC -

Bourden to Minnett, no run, well forward and pushes to mid off.

3.44 pm

TC -

Bourden to Minnett, no run, defended.

3.43 pm

TC -

End of the over, 3/82 off 42, Mossy on 45.

3.42 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, no run, defended off the back foot.

3.41 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, no run, good cover drive but well fielded there.

3.41 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, no run, driven strongly to mid off.

3.40 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, FOUR, great shot there, flicked off his pads through square leg all the way to the boundary.

3.39 pm

TC -

End of over 41, 3/78.

3.38 pm

TC -

Bourden to Minnett, short and down leg, Minnett goes for the big pull but misses.

3.38 pm

TC -

Bourden to Minnett, defended off the front foot for no run.

3.38 pm

TC -

Bourden to Minnett, keeps low and raps him on the pads, was going down leg though.

3.37 pm

TC -

Burdon to Minnett, down leg side.

3.36 pm

TC -

End of over 40, 3/78.

3.36 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, it goes past the bat, there is a big noise and the appeal goes up! Umpire says no and Mona Vale are very disappointed. There was a big noise but the appeal wasn’t totally convincing. Flicked his pad perhaps?

3.35 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, defending on the up into the off side, no run.

3.34 pm

TC -

Youll to Moss, bottom edge through to the keeper, doesn’t carry.

3.34 pm

TC -

Youll to Minnett, flicked to square leg for a single.

3.34 pm

TC -

We’re back from tea here at Harbord Park. Youll to Minnett, left outside off.

3.33 pm

TC -

Back over at Lake Park 6ths have limped to 7/83 at Tea. Hopefully the tail can wag effectively there, but it’s looking like there will be some good bowling needed this afternoon!

3.25 pm

TC -

Bad news for 4th grade, information coming through that they are really struggling at Melwood, 6 down for not many, about 50.

3.21 pm

TC -

Good to see some runs there after an afternoon of bad news. Good hitting from Mossy. 1sts will be hoping he can kick on here with Minnett. They will be doing there best to bat out the 80 overs, a victory is not needed by the Plateau after finishing in 2nd.

3.16 pm

TC -

Defended off the back foot by Minnett and they scamper a quick single. 3/77 off 39. That is drinks, good recovery here by the Plateau.

3.14 pm

TC -

Minnett edges through slips and gets 2.

3.12 pm

TC -

Hammond 7
Papandrea 8
Wheeler 7
Mossy 41* and looking very good
Minnett 7*

3.11 pm

TC -

Welcome back, we’re here at Harbord Park, where it’s slow going for the Plateau on a sluggish outfield. The score is 3/72 off 37.

2.23 pm

TC -

With that we’re going to leave Lake Park, we’ll be live from the 1st Grade game at Harbord Park shortly!

2.19 pm

TC -

WICKET. Huge wicket for Wakehurst. Jake tries to hit this one over cover but doesn’t quite get it. Juggled by cover but takes it in the end and the Plateau is in huge trouble here at 5/33.

2.18 pm

TC -

Joel flicks another to fine leg for 1.

2.17 pm

TC -

Loopy slower ball here, Wood flicks again. There is a bit of indecision with the running but the single is taken and both batsmen home comfortably. 4/33 off 15.

2.16 pm

TC -

Big shout for LBW here, Wood is rapped on the pads, he was trying to flick it to leg. Umpire shakes his head, it looked to be missing leg stump.

2.15 pm

TC -

Wood gets one on high thigh and he glances it well to fine leg for a couple.

2.09 pm

TC -

And Damon has a wild swing at a wide ball outside off and it catches the edge. Caught by the keeper and it is another wicket for Wakehurst, Plateau in trouble at 4/30. Jake Carden the skipper walks out to the middle.

2.05 pm

TC -

So we’ll be live here at 6th grade for a little while longer, then we’ll be heading to Harbord Park to cover the first grade game against Mona Vale. Here it is 3/30.

2.04 pm

TC -

Another full toss to Wood, no ball, no run.

2.01 pm

TC -

Wood pushes at full toss into the leg side, it’s just wide of the fieldsman and they get a single. 3/29 off 14. Wood onto 3.

1.57 pm

TC -

Defended off the back foot, kept a little low and had Steel looking a little uncomfortable there. 3/28 off 13, runs are becoming hard to come by for 6th grade.

1.55 pm

TC -

This one is driven well to mid off, no run however.

1.55 pm

TC -

Yorker length met by a driving Steel, no run.

1.54 pm

TC -

Big stride out from Steel and defends confidently.

1.54 pm

TC -

Damon Steel is the new batsman. 3/28 off 12.

1.51 pm

TC -

Peters flashes at this one outside off and it goes high in the air in the fly slip region, there are several Wakehurst players underneath it and it’s taken. Peters out for 12, Plateau 6th grade 3/29.

1.49 pm

TC -

Full toss on the pads and Woods flicks it nicely into a vacant backward square leg for two. End of the over 6th grade are 2/29 off 11.

1.48 pm

TC -

Another length ball left alone by Wood, who is being very watchful here.

1.47 pm

TC -

Flicked without much intent into the leg side by Wood, no run.

1.46 pm

TC -

Length ball outside off, left alone by Wood.

1.45 pm

TC -

End of the over, still 2/27, 10 overs gone.

1.44 pm

TC -

On the legs again and this time Peters flicks it uppishly and its short of square leg, no run.

1.44 pm

TC -

This one is down leg side, attempted flick by Peters but misses it.

1.43 pm

TC -

Peters gets a bouncer and defends well off the back foot.

1.43 pm

TC -

6th grade are 2/27 off 9. Aaron Peters is on 12 and Joel Wood is yet to score.

1.40 pm

TC -

Over at Harbord Park, first grade have won the toss and are batting in their match against Mona Vale.

1.39 pm

TC -

The Northern Beaches have turned on a beautiful day, with the mercury approaching 30 and barely a cloud in the sky. Here at Lake Park there is a nice breeze coming through as well. Very pleasant conditions for cricket!

1.37 pm

TC -

Welcome to our live updates of CPCC’s semi finals. We’re coming live from Lake Park where 6th Grade are taking on Wakehurst. The Plateau have run into a little bit of trouble early and find themselves 2/19 with key batsman Toby Horstead back in the shed.

12.25 am

TC -

Pretty good last over from Watson, 8 off and a wicket on the last ball. 5/272 is the final score. Will be a tough chase for Australia, but its bed time here at TC Ink. Good night!

12.21 am

TC -

Kieswetter nails one back at Watson. He stops it with one hand and that looked painful. And now a scoop for 4.

12.20 am

TC -

Nearly a good over from Brett Lee. Only 3 off the first 5 deliveries, but the 6th goes to the boundary.

12.16 am

TC -

Wow. 4/257. 19 from that Watson over. England have exploded and will post a competitive total now surely.

12.13 am

TC -

Eoin goes again! Weird shot, almost a front foot pull. It wasn’t that short but its been hit for 6.

12.11 am

TC -

Kieswetter joins in, smashes Watson’s first ball down the ground for 4.

12.10 am

TC -

And again! This time its a half volley and Eoin swipes it for 6 in the same area. 2 very important 6s to finish that over. 4/238, 3 to go.

12.09 am

TC -

Shocking full toss from Brett Lee goes the distance thanks to Eoin.

12.07 am

TC -

4/224 with 4 overs to go… Kieswetter can’t get going. I think they need to get to 260.

11.57 pm

TC -

England not forcing the issue yet here. Bedwetter only has 7 off 14.

11.42 pm

TC -

Bedwetter comes in.

11.40 pm

TC -

So England have done well, they are in a position to get 260-270.

Doherty clean bowls Trotty! Massive lapse in concentration and he’s been yorker by the spinner as he tried to flick it through leg side.

11.37 pm

TC -

Watson to bowl the last powerplay over. He does pretty well, 6 off it.

11.33 pm

TC -

50 for Trotty of 65 balls, 10 off this Lee over with 1 ball remaining. Could be another 2, and it is. 3/182 off 39. 1 PP over to go.

11.28 pm

TC -

Annndd Cummins has copped it in that over. Eoin has hammered him down the ground for 6 off the last ball, powerplay starting to fire up now.

11.26 pm

TC -

Cummins drops a sharp caught and bowled chance. Couldn’t quite get his hands up to it. Drops it short next ball and Trott smashes it for 4.

11.24 pm

TC -

Now Lee does well to only give away 6. Good job by Australia so far.

11.19 pm

TC -

Cummins has kept it well contained on over 1 of the batting PP, just 2 from it.

11.15 pm

TC -

England forced to take the batting powerplay now at over 35. This will be interesting.

11.10 pm

TC -

Eoin jumping around the crease looking for runs against Doherty, but not looking too convincing.

11.02 pm

TC -

Two non-Englishmen at the crease now! Where is Cape Town? It’s in England! Where is Dublin? It’s in England!

11.00 pm

TC -

It was only half an appeal, didn’t seem very convincing and I was surprised that Clarke chose to review. Hotspot shows nothing and it certainly wasn’t stumped. Not out.

10.59 pm

TC -

Couple of appeals here, could be stumping or a catch.

10.59 pm

TC -

Incredible fielding by David Hussey, big dive and just rakes it back away from the boundary. Trott looking good but not scoring very quickly.

10.45 pm

TC -

Bopara prediction was spot on! McKay comes back on and gets an edge off Bopara and Clarke who, and full credit to him for being there, takes the catch at 1st slip. 3/121 off 28.1. Australia gaining some ascendancy now.

10.38 pm

TC -

Play and a miss from Bopara, Cummins has it coming in a bit off the slope. Good bowling.

10.37 pm

TC -

Trott takes off on a suicide single. Cummins fields and has a shot at the stumps but can’t hit and Trotty gets away with it. 2/112 off 26.1

10.26 pm

TC -

Cummins belts Bopara in the head with a great short ball. Cop that! Bopara barely moved, he just turned his head and copped it. He’s OK though, straight back into it.

10.18 pm

TC -

Bopara in now, I don’t rate him against an Australian attack, let’s see how he goes. Trott needs to play a big innings here.

10.17 pm

TC -

Cummins back into the attack and gets Australia’s 2nd!! He built into that over well, increasing his pace with every ball. Cook was found out by that ball, he went searching for the drive and edged it through to Wade. 2/89 off 21.

10.00 pm

TC -

Now Wade drops a difficult chance down leg, that would have been Cook gone as well. Replay shows it was quite catchable, missed opportunity there.

9.58 pm

TC -

Oh that’s gotta be out! Great ball from Brett Lee and given!! Jagged in a little, beats Bell’s inside edge and plumb LBW. Australia on the board 1/74 off 17.

9.56 pm

TC -

Great fielding by Bailey, Cook certainly didn’t deserve 4 for that shot.

9.54 pm

TC -

They’ve only been back on for about 10 overs, but drinks breaks must go ahead as planned!

9.47 pm

TC -

Still no breakthrough for Australia, Clarke’s decision to bowl first not looking too great at the moment! Cook and Bell aren’t setting the world alight however. 0/64 off 15.

9.06 pm

TC -

So England off to a steady start before some typical English weather turned up. Eng are 0/15 off 6 at the rain delay. Radar doesn’t look too bad, should be able to get this game in!

7.25 pm

TC -

Our updates will be a little infrequent until after tonight’s NRL match.

7.22 pm

TC -

Toss has been won by Clarke and Australia will… Field. Cricinfo were indeed right with their prediction of the Aussie pace attack. Could be a bit in this pitch so a lot of responsibility on the quicks here to back up the skippers decision.

7.17 pm

TC -

The more I think about this game, and look at the two teams, the more I think England should win this. Key for Australia is David Warner. He needs to get in and blast a big one.

7.13 pm

TC -

If Cricinfo are correct, 2 out of the 3 pacers tonight will be contractless! Which is kind of funny considering there are 7 Cricket Australia contracted quicks.

7.09 pm

TC -

Who knows who is going to run out for the Australian fast bowling circus. Cricinfo thinks it is going to be: Brett Lee, Clint McKay and Pat Cummins. Come on, there’s only 6 of them to choose from!

7.02 pm

TC -

Welcome to our live comments on the first ODI between England and Australia.
First off, we’re going to have a crack at England taking the 2.02 offered. We rate this game as 50/50, with England having the edge if anything (they have won their last 6 ODI series at home), so this rates as pretty good value.

12.19 pm

TC -

And I’m off to my own cricket. Unfortunately no Viewers verdict so far…..

11.29 am

TC -

BANG! Vettori’s first ball of the morning and Clarke smashes a 6 to bring up his 50. Beautiful shot straight down the ground.

11.13 am

TC -

Clarke’s cover drive is on fire. Blasts this Southee ball to the boundary. He moves to 44.

11.07 am

TC -

And it is just hitting the stumps. Umpires call stands and unfortunately Ponting is out for 78, Martin gets the breakthrough.

11.06 am

TC -

This could be one of those ones that remains with umpires call. Waiting on hawk eye. This looks ominous.

11.05 am

TC -

PONTING GIVEN OUT LBW. He reviews. Only doubt is it might be sliding down leg!

10.46 am

TC -

Martin is bowling well. Good in swing and he’s making it hard for Ponting at the moment. This one swings and jumps off just short of a length a wraps Ponting on the gloves. Man at silly mid on could be in the game here.

3/161
Ponting 68
Clarke 34

10.42 am

TC -

Glorious cover drive from Clarke races to the boundary for 4. Great to watch.

10.39 am

TC -

And now a huge LBW shout! Rauf said no, it looked perhaps outside the line and hawk eye shows it’s not hitting the stumps. Good call from umpire and NZ not to review.

10.38 am

TC -

And it would be fantastic to see Ponting go on to make a big 100 here today.

One of yesterday’s highlights was Clarke getting called back because of the no ball. Not sure I totally agree with how that all worked, but hilarious and great for Australia none the less!

Good ball from Southee sees Ponting nearly get bowled the same way Clarke did yesterday.

10.35 am

TC -

If anyone saw the “Vodafone Viewers Verdict” yesterday asking the question “Will Ponting make 50?” you may have noticed a strange swing in the trend. It went from 80% of people thinking Ponting would get there, to 54% thinking he wouldn’t. Well I can reveal that is was the hard workers at TC Ink having a bit of fun and trolling “no” answer on the poll. The commentators were sure confused, Greig: “Well! What’s going on here?” followed by someone saying “Some idiot’s just learnt how to use this..”. It was a classic.

And just as a disclaimer, we did, of course, want Punter to reach 50! We just wanted to have a bit of fun with Ch9!!

10.30 am

TC -

Welcome to TC Ink for a few comments on this mornings play, day 3 of the opening test of the Summer.

4.28 pm

TC -

So with the rain coming down now we are going to head off for the day.

Australia bowled OK, but not consistently enough for mine. A lot of wickets were given away by NZ, they were very, very poor. Better opposition may have had a big day in the middle today. In saying this, the Aus bowlers got the wickets, so full credit to all of them.

3.38 pm

TC -

Only 5 minutes until tea anyway, so a good time to come off.

3.37 pm

TC -

Bad light! Boooooooooo. And looking at the sky we won’t be on again any time soon.

The radar suggests that the rain may be missing Brisbane, lets hope it passes – and that the coulds do as well.

3.31 pm

TC -

Vettori and Brownlie settled. All the Aussie bowlers have had a go at them but none have found the breakthrough as of yet. It’s just a bit too easy for them at the moment….

2.59 pm

TC -

No inside edge… But it is going down leg fairly comfortably. Looked a lot better in real time! 1 review down for Aus.

2.58 pm

TC -

BIG APPEAL from MIKE HUSSEY of all people. It looked good! We are reviewing! Brownlie could be in trouble here!

2.39 pm

TC -

Haha, new Selleys add isn’t bad! Might just paint that wall… NZ could have been all out by now had Clarke caught that! Now Brownlie is 14, Vettori 14, Lyon looking for his 2nd. 5/135.

2.23 pm

TC -

Haha, great footage on Ch9 at the moment of Glenn McGrath hitting a 6 off Vettori at the Gabba. Great stroke and the reaction from the dressing room is priceless!

2.06 pm

TC -

Siddle looks like a destroyer at the moment, bowling very well. Lets see if he can clean up this tail. Clarke will hope his drop won’t cost Australia too much.

2.00 pm

TC -

Brownlie flashes at one short outside off, edged and Clarke makes a disgraceful mess of it at first slip. You don’t often see that. It was straight to him, a sitter. Cricket was not the winner there… Siddle misses out.

1.51 pm

TC -

Rubbish cricket from New Zealand. Didn’t take long after lunch, Ryder has gifted Starc another wicket. Cut to Warner at point. Really, really poor. It is up to Vettori to save this inning now.

12.58 pm

TC -

Oh this is fantastic from Pattinson! First Taylor leaves and nearly gets bowled/LBW, then he chases the one slightly wider and it is an inside edge onto the stumps. NZ in big trouble now, they have thrown away their good start.

Australia bowling well, but not outstandingly. So close to lunch too.

And then Pattinson nearly cleans up Brownlie first ball!

12.42 pm

TC -

Great bowling from LYON! Edge onto the pads and this time taken by Khawaja at short leg. Williamson gooone. 3/78. Lyon looks solid.

12.40 pm

TC -

Pattinson so close to his first wicket, Khawaja drops a tough change at short leg.

12.22 pm

TC -

STARC gets his first wicket! He’s been bowling OK, but McCullum threw his wicket away here. Short and wide, he cut it straight to Warner at point.

11.56 am

TC -

Siddle with an end switch, Pattinson off.

And SIDDLE is rewarded! He has been good this morning. Guptill goes at a length ball and edges through to Haddin. NZ 1/44 and we have our first wicket of the summer!

11.40 am

TC -

Mixed first over for Starc, few good balls and a couple of full tosses, one being smashed straight for 4.

11.37 am

TC -

Starc now, replacing Siddle. NZ 0/34 off 7.

11.22 am

TC -

Siddle unlucky, McCullum mows outside off again and another edge flies for 4. Good over from Siddle.

11.18 am

TC -

All over Guptill for the majority of that over, good bowling. NZ 0/22 off 3.

11.17 am

TC -

Good couple of balls from Pattinson, then a big run out chance but the throw isn’t good enough and Guptill is home easy.

11.14 am

TC -

OK over from Siddle, 4 off it. Time for these two to find some rythm. Let’s see how Pattinson goes second time around, against Guptill.

11.09 am

TC -

Siddle from the other end.
Outswing for him to and a bit of a harsh wide given.

11.07 am

TC -

And again, similar to the first 4, the half volley is smashed through covers. 13 off the first over… Wow.

11.04 am

TC -

Went for it again, edges this time, it was a little shorter and wider, it flies a long way over gully’s head.

11.04 am

TC -

Half volley destroyed through covers by McCullum, out-swing for Pattinson.

11.01 am

TC -

Players out onto the field now, come on Aussie! (no bias here!)
It will be Pattinson to bowl the first over, his first in test cricket, McCullum on strike.

10.44 am

TC -

TC Ink is picking Peter Siddle for man of the match.

10.42 am

TC -

To make matters worse, Australia are bowling first and we don’t get to see the exciting prospect of David Warner opening in a test match just yet. The new boys to be tested straight away.

10.38 am

TC -

So again, welcome if you have decided to check out our live comments!

To begin with, Starc and Pattinson have been given the nod, Cutting is 12th man.

In my opinion, a stupid selection and an immediate set back. Starc hasn’t set the world alight in Shield cricket and has been picked ahead of the in-form Cutting. Not only that, but Cutting would have be bowling on his home surface – where he has got most of his wickets. New selectors but same old crap. Why do they have this policy of needing to pick a left armer? Just pick the best 11 for God’s sake.

Anyway, happy to be proven wrong as always and good luck to the debutants.

10.29 am

TC -

That’s all for today. Anderson’s scintilating performance was the highlight for mine. Tomorrow morning we will bring you bits of the Nicholson v Beaton match from 7am.

In the quarters so far its Hankey up against Walsh and Anderson against Jenkins.

10.10 am

TC -

JENKINS breaks again to win the match! Incredible, throughout that game the Bull just did enough to keep hanging in there. He’s left it right until to money legs to fire up and storm home for a 10-8 victory. Well Jenkins keeps his record of never missing out on the final 8 of the Grand Slam alive. Great comeback from the Bull there, exciting darts.

10.05 am

TC -

Jenkins hits 180 and holds solid. 9-8!!!!

10.03 am

TC -

AND THERE IT IS! Jenkins gets his break. He held easily then threw some good darts to get himself right into that leg. Jones missed two doubles then Jenkins hit double 10 to level 8-8!!

10.00 am

TC -

WOW. Jenkins flew back into that leg with a 180, pressuring Jones into missing 3 shots at double 12. But then Jenkins failed to finish 38. Disapointing from Jenkins, Jones 8-6.

9.56 am

TC -

Thats better from Jenkins. Holds his throw for 7-6 but he needs to fire up here to get back into this.

9.54 am

TC -

Jones hits a 180 to put himself into a good position to hold. Beautiful darts to then finish 81.

9.52 am

TC -

Jenkins really struggling now, Jones misses double 12 twice for another break. Jenkins then smashes through 78 to hold! 6-5

9.48 am

TC -

Jones firing up now. He’s gone 140-180 in this leg. 6-4 at the second break.

9.46 am

TC -

But now Jenkins hands the advantage back to Jones. A few slack visits and Jones nails a 180. Jenkins replies with one of his own but he’s too far behind in this leg. Well hang on, Jenkins had a go at 156, he hit the treble 20s but couldn’t hit the double 18! Jones does in fact complete the break. 5-4 to Jones.

9.44 am

TC -

Jones left the door open in that scrappy leg, and Jenkins came from behind to capitalise! 4-4 now! Jenkins throwing for a lead.

9.41 am

TC -

Jones just struggling to hit trebles at the moment. Jenkins wins on his throw easily. 4-3

9.39 am

TC -

Jones holds off Jenkins after a scrappy finish to that leg, 4-2 to Jones.

9.36 am

TC -

Jenkins holds comfortably to peg the score back to 3-2 at the break.

9.32 am

TC -

And theres a 180 to Jenkins, storming back in this game looking for a break back. Gets tops for 3-1. Jenkins looks good despite being behind here.

9.31 am

TC -

Now Jones DOES hit the bull to finish 122! Great darts! 3-0 to Jones! The averages are good for both, 99 to Jones, 95 to Jenkins.

9.28 am

TC -

Jenkins can only seem to get 2/3 darts on target at the moment. The first two hit the treble but the third skews off into the 1.

9.28 am

TC -

This game seems very slow after watching the Anderson blitz! As I say that Jones grabs the first 180 of the game. Jenkins can’t hit the bull to finish 121. Jones hits tops to go 2-0 up.

9.26 am

TC -

Oooh Jones misses double 18 for an early break. Then Jenkins misses 3 shots at double! Jones doesn’t fail this time. He breaks to go up 1-0

9.23 am

TC -

The crowd absolutely loving the Bulls walk on song. It’s Wayne Jones’ home though!

9.15 am

TC -

9th 180 for Anderson, incredible. Wade just misses double 19 for a 118 finish. Anderson misses double 12 to finish 78. Wade can’t hit 19! First two darts were outside then the last went inside. Anderson hits double 6 with his 2nd dart to clean up the match 10-3. Huge performance from Anderson. Wade wasn’t bad averaging high 90’s but Anderson was simply unbeatable.

Anderson is going to be hard to beat if he keeps playing like this. The way he throws in those 180s is beautiful to watch. When the first goes in you can almost guarantee the others will follow. He throws them so quickly and nonchalantly.

Up next is Terry Jenkins and Wayne Jones. And I can’t see either of these beating Anderson!

9.08 am

TC -

Anderson on the verge of victory now. Wade fought hard but Anderson knocked in an incredible 180 on a pin point. An 86 finish makes it 9-3 and Wade is throwing to keep the game alive.

9.07 am

TC -

Wade fighting hard, he requires 68 but doesn’t get a shot at it as Anderson finishes 100. 8-3.

9.06 am

TC -

Anderson back to his 180 best! Follows it up with a ton and is looking good for another break here.

9.05 am

TC -

In the first game today, Mark Walsh beat Dean Winstanley in a topsy turvy game. Is it just me or is Walsh a dead-ringer for Dr Evil?

9.02 am

TC -

Wade gets a break out of nowhere. Anderson just took his foot off the pedal in that leg. 7-3 at the 2nd break, can Wade fight back in this one?

8.59 am

TC -

And he breaks again. Too good here, 7-2.

8.58 am

TC -

Another casual 180 for Gary on Wade’s throw!

8.58 am

TC -

Wade looks really deflated, remember he was up 2-0.

8.57 am

TC -

Makes no mess of finishing with his next throw, 6-2. Anderson so good to watch when he’s throwing like this.

8.56 am

TC -

He hits the treble 20 but misses on the 19s.

8.56 am

TC -

And he’s on a 9 darter with another 180!

8.56 am

TC -

180!!! Easy as you like from Anderson, now looking to break Wade again who has no response at the moment. The Flying Scotsman hits double 10 to go up 5-2! And he begins the next leg with another 180! Brilliant.

8.53 am

TC -

Another 180 to Gary, he can’t miss the treble. Wade hits 140 to put some pressure on Anderson’s double but he doesn’t miss. 4-2.

8.51 am

TC -

Just recovering from some technical difficulties, we should be underway now.
Anderson has fired right up. Held his throw comfortably to make it 2-2 then blitzed Wade’s throw to take the lead 3-2.

8.43 am

TC -

Wade has an ordinary leg allowing Gary a chance to finish with 60. He can’t do it, but Wade can’t finish 120 either. Anderson hits double 5 to break back.

8.41 am

TC -

Earlier, the gruesome Ted Hankey just edged out van Gerwen 10-9 in what was an extremely exciting game.
Wade breaks Anderson to go up 2-0!

8.39 am

TC -

We join the darts with Wade and Anderson just beginning their match. This heavyweight contest promises to be a high quality game of darts between two of the best players in the world. And the first leg, Wade has already thrown a 180 and flown to a 1-0 lead.

11.04 pm

TC -

Well my eyes are shutting so its time to sign off here at TC Ink with the score at 4/160. We hope you have enjoyed our commentary snippets and we will be looking to do more of this in the near future. In fact, we may even cover some darts tomorrow morning.

10.54 pm

TC -

Lyon back and bowls a solid maiden. Johnson has just dished out another bruise, Prince the victim. Great to watch, hit him again!

10.41 pm

TC -

CUMMINS! gets his first test wicket. Full and Amla went hard at it. Great catch from Ponting in the slips above his head. South Africa in trouble on a good batting pitch. Australia doing a very good job!

10.30 pm

TC -

Kallis’ aggressiveness has become his downfall. A very ordinary shot from Kallis, looking for another big flick to the boundary but only manages to bunt it to mid-wicket. Siddle is gifted a wicket. Very important wicket and a good chance for Cummins to attack this SA middle order.

9.35 pm

TC -

2/107 off 25 at lunch. Lyon got tonked a bit by Kallis in the last over. Amla was looking a bit sore after getting sconned on the elbow by Johnson. Back soon.

9.25 pm

TC -

And Mitchy unlucky again! Very similar to the Amla not out call earlier, but this time Kallis is given out. He immediately reviews, which reveals the bat just getting an edge in before the pads.

9.06 pm

TC -

Not a good sight, Watson has walked off injured. Hope it isn’t serious. Johnson finishes his over by htting Amla with a short ball.

8.44 pm

TC -

WATSON! Great ball across Rudolph, fine edge and taken by Haddin. Good bowling change after all!

8.30 pm

TC -

Cummins off after a tight spell, 0/9 off 5. Watson on for Johnson as well. Strange decisions, I thought Johnson was just finding a good rhythm and would have liked to have seen more from Cummins.

8.27 pm

TC -

Johnson very unlucky. Great inswinger to Amla. Loud appeal given not out by Bowden. The review shows it has just hit the pad before the bat but… Not enough of the ball was hitting the stumps. Johnson must bowl in this area more consistently.

8.18 pm

TC -

Cummins firing in at the stumps with no luck. South Africa 1/37 off 10.

8.15 pm

TC -

And Mitchy follows up the wicket by going for 9. Come on Mitch…

8.07 pm

TC -

Lovely ball from Johnson, just left Smith from a length and forced him into a shot which he edged into the cordon. He’s been bowling a probing off side line and got his reward. Now, if he can just eliminate the odd pie….

7.49 pm

TC -

Lively start by Cummins. Only bowling at around 140ks though. Bit of movement for Mitch.

7.32 pm

TC -

Riteo, Mitch to open. Interesting choice, presuming Cummins will be at the other end.

7.15 pm

TC -

Everyone saying the pitch is going to do a bit, moisture about. Good conditions for Cummins to rip in on debut then.

7.06 pm

TC -

South Africa win the toss and we will get to see our iffy pace attack in action first up. Can Cummins live up to the hype and prove me wrong?

7.03 pm

TC -

Looking forward to seeing Khawaja bat, he is yet to show his best at test level.

Will another failure from Watson prompt a move down the order?

7.00 pm

TC -

Johnson has been bowling fruit lately. He desperately needs one of those classic match-winning performances. I could rattle of a long list of quicks waiting for a go….

As for Hughes…. I know the selectors don’t agree but – Bring back the Kat!

6.56 pm

TC -

Probably worth adding Lyon to that list too – spinners haven’t been lasting long lately.

Keepers Matthew Wade (Victoria) and Peter Nevill (NSW) have been turning in good Shield performances and would be more than capable of replacing Haddin, whose average has fallen to 36, should he continue to underperform.

6.49 pm

TC -

To get things started I can confirm that Ryan Harris is unfortunately out injured (again) and that Cummins will be making his debut. To me, the AUS bowling attack seems very weak.

There are 3 Australians that will have the heat on them over the new few days. Haddin, Johnson and Hughes all need to perform, their positions are standing on shaky ground.
